Stamatis Zohios holds a PhD from the University of Grenoble. In the past he has worked at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales and the University of Strasbourg, while he has completed a postdoctoral diploma at EPHE (2018-2021) on the journey of the soul in modern Greek and Russian visions.
He is currently a research associate at the Hellenic Folklore Research Centre at the Academy of Athens, while at the same time he teaches at the Department of Russian Language and Philology and Slavic Studies (University of Athens) and the Hellenic Open University. His main scientific interests are in the field of popular beliefs in Greece, as well as in Eastern and Southeastern Europe, focusing on their connection with oral literature and magical-religious practices. He also translates from French and Russian.
